Malaysia Chinese Architecture Magazine issue 02

Take It Slow >

“Fast thinking is your autopilot – your automatic responses that dictate your thoughts, feelings, and actions.

Slow thinking is what happens to you when you turn off your autopilot.”

—— Geir Berthelsen, founder of The World Institute of Slowness.

As we stay in confinement at home, only connected to the outside world via “replying”, “posting” and “liking”, the endless bombardment of information blurs the boundaries between truth and rumors, as well as work and live. How do we relieve ourselves from the constant fatigue?

As we excitedly resume human activities in the city, does it provide us with appropriate breathing spaces, allowing us to feel safe and comfortable in the outside world? While construction and demolition flush our collective memories away, what more can we hold on to?

As we alternate between extreme heat and torrential rainfalls, the climate crisis has become an undeniable fact. While the raging floods exposed our lack of understanding of nature, it has also proved that humans cannot have full control over nature. Can we rethink the antagonistic relationship between man and nature?

Throughout the past two years, we have collectively experienced countless local and global political turmoil, as well as natural and man-made disasters, while undergoing personal changes, struggles, and loss.

“Take It Slow” is an invitation from draf. We cordially invite you to reflect with us on how to be more gentle with our planet, our cities, and ourselves.

仅靠着“回复”、“发布”,和“点赞“ 与外界联系;
都埋没在源源不绝的信息轰炸里;

全球暖化、气候失调,已成不争的事实;
也证实了人类无法完全掌控自然;
这两年来,我们一起经历了无数个国内外的天灾人祸、政治动荡;
